7th Annual MB2 Dental Mission Trip in Jamaica

MB2 Dental recently returned from our annual mission trip to Jamaica, continuing our tradition of giving back and providing essential dental care to underserved communities. This trip, led by Dr. Joseph Dove and Dr. Anthony Polk, provided clinics in two different locations over the course of two days.

MB2 Dental doctor partners, members of leadership, the Dove Family Dentistry team, sponsors, and more volunteered their time and skills at the Half Moon Resort Conference Centre, focusing on the hotel staff and children from a hotel-sponsored orphanage, and at the West Jamaica Conference Centre, which drew patients from across the region. The effort resulted in:

  • 356 patients receiving care
  • 525+ dental services, such as extractions, restorative treatments, fillings, and cleanings.

“We had a girl who had a lot of big holes in her front teeth. She wasn’t having any pain and had other teeth that were broken that we could have taken out, but we didn’t have a lot of time. She said, ‘If I could really just get my 4 front teeth looking better, that would really help.’ So I did these giant fillings on her teeth, and in the end, she just lit up. She was so happy that she had her smile back. That was the most emotionally rewarding for me because that is going to change her life.” – Dr. Chip Webb

MB2 Dental would like to express gratitude to its partners at Henry Schein, Cadmus Dental Lab, Midwest Dental Equipment & Supply, Brasseler, DDS Lab, Patterson Dental, Benco, Dentsply, Darby, and BAYLAB for their generosity and for sponsoring the success of this mission. They provided funds and supplies, ensuring that our teams could operate efficiently and reach as many people as possible. Their contributions not only enhanced our ability to provide care but also brought comfort and relief to hundreds. The impact of our mission was not just in the numbers but in the smiles and gratitude of the patients we served.

“We have been able to get into communities that are sometimes very far away from the nearest clinic or have appointments that take up to a year. So this has been very impactful, especially in western Jamaica where we’ve had most of our clinics.” – Jose Ann, Jamaicans Care for Jamaicans

We’re so grateful to Jamaicans Caring for Jamaicans (JCJ) for opening these doors of opportunity for our team. The sentiments shared by our volunteers capture the spirit of the MB2 Dental family: a group committed to making a significant, positive impact on the world through dental care.

“I think every dentist gets into the field at least in part to be able to help people, and this is the truest form of helping people. We don’t know when these patients would have seen a dentist next, and I only wish we could do more.” – Dr. Aaron Lerg

We are excited to continue this tradition of service and look forward to returning to Jamaica next year for another mission.
